P.I. Podcast: Interview with Janet Rae-Dupree
March 8th, 2009

Last week, I had a great conversation with freelance journalist Janet Rae-Dupree, who has covered science, technology and innovation issues in Silicon Valley and elsewhere since the 1990s. Janet has written about innovation for the New York Times, which is where I first discovered her excellent work.
During our interview, we discussed how innovation is changing in difficult economic times, the current plight of newspapers and the impact of Google on that industry. Janet has some candid perspectives on ASNE and its decision to cancel the organization’s April convention, as well as valuable insights on creativity from behavioral science.
Janet and I share a common belief in the importance of increasing scientific literacy in our country, and I break a little bit of news about my still-unfolding plans for the association community in this area. I won’t spoil the surprise for those who are going to listen to the podcast, so I’ll make a more official announcement about that project here on the blog in the near future.
There is no question in my mind that you’ll enjoy listening to this rich conversation with a thoughtful observer of today’s innovation landscape. It is about 31 minutes in length.
