This blogging thing will never catch on…
January 9th, 2009
Yeah right.
Here’s an item in The WOMMA Word newsletter I received today, drawn from an article in The Age (Australia):
China Exceeds 50 Million Bloggers
This number is simply staggering: China has exceeded 50 million bloggers. For reference, that is larger than the individual populations of South Korea, Spain, Argentina, South Africa, Ukraine…and the list goes on.
China’s blogger population increased by about 3 million people in the last year, and Xinhua news agency (of China) estimates there are about 100 million total blogs in China.
If you’re looking for a good place to begin, try Chinalyst, “an informal community for China related English blogging.”
If your association has a China strategy, or is developing one, I strongly urge you to consider how 50 million Chinese bloggers fit into it.
