Big announcement delayed

August 31st, 2008

Like many of you, I’ve been tracking the path of Hurriance Gustav.  I’m terribly worried about the impact of the storm on the city of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast in general, and it just doesn’t seem right to be making announcements on a day when my fellow Americans are in harm’s way.  So, I’m going to hold off until at least Tuesday, depending on how things unfold over the next 24 hours.  We need to keep the focus where it belongs.

In the meantime, please check out the Gustav Information Center created by NPR’s Andy Carvin.  And let’s pray for everyone to be safe.
