The new Association Social Media Wiki!
July 7th, 2008

After a long absence, I am incredibly pleased to announce that the Association Social Media Wiki makes a glorious and long-awaited return today, and in a new and vastly improved form! Over the last few months, I have received many direct and indirect inquiries about why the wiki has been down, and I have had to explain over and over again that it was because my previous wiki hosting company was absurdly incompetent, and not because I had removed it from the Web.
The new wiki lives on the Mediawiki platform and is structured in a way that will allow us to take it from its previous existence as a static reference list to a vibrant community learning resource. We invite all associations that are using social technologies to not only add links to their initiatives, but to include explanatory information on those projects, including what worked and what didn’t. The goal is to make the wiki a deep resource for learning and knowledge on creating effective association social media. Of course, the new wiki remains a work in progress, so please share your thoughts on what we can do to improve it, even as we collaborate to build its content.
There simply are not enough superlatives available to describe the extraordinary efforts of my friend and fellow blogger, Lindy Dreyer, who did all of the work in creating the new wiki. If it wasn’t for Lindy, the new wiki would still be an unrealized idea floating somewhere in the back of my brain. Thank you Lindy…YOU ROCK!
Please join me in spreading the word about the wiki! If you’re so inclined, please consider adding the new logo (above) to your blog or website. This is a shared community resource that will always be available for free, so your contributions to building awareness are incredibly important. Thanks in advance for your help!
