Some Annual Meeting items for you…

August 1st, 2007

With the ASAE & The Center Annual Meeting in Chicago fast approaching, I wanted to alert P.I. Blog readers to a few items of interest:

+There is still room in my Association Innovation Boot Camp, which takes place on Saturday, August 11 from 8:30 am-4:30 pm at McCormick Place. While we have sold out up to the public number of 25 participants, we are able to accommodate a few more people. In fact, you can participate in the Boot Camp even if you’re not registered for the rest of the Annual Meeting. So, if you have an interest in being a part of what is going to be a fantastic session, please e-mail me for more information.

+Once again this year, Ben Martin, P.I.’s architect of participation, has been the driving force behind organizing the Association BloggerCon, which will be held on Sunday, August 12 at 10:30 am, location TBD. All association community bloggers are invited to participate, as well as anyone who is simply interested in talking about blogging and social media. We extend a special welcome to representatives of associations that are using social media in their work. Please stay in touch with B-Mart’s blog, as well as the P.I. Blog for updates on where the BloggerCon will be held.

+On Monday, August 13 at 11 am, I am participating in the discussion, “Strategic Planning, Dead or Alive?” in the CAE Lounge. (I don’t know the exact location of the CAE Lounge, but I’m sure it will become clear once we are all in Chicago.) Joining me in this conversation are Robert Rich of the American Chemical Society and Jolene Knapp of the Society for College and University Planning. If you are a CAE, please join us!

+On Tuesday, August 14 at 9 am, I will be presenting a learning lab on “ungovernance.” If you would like a preview of the conversation we will have in this session, you can download the handout (PDF 48 KB). Please post your questions and comments below.

+The ASAE & The Center Silent Auction is now live online and I am involved in a couple of prizes. From Principled Innovation LLC, there is the Refreshingly Original Co-Created Consulting Project, which basically means that the successful bidder and I will collaborate to develop the right kind of small project to fit the association’s needs. In addition, through Association Renewal LLC, Jamie and I are offering an Association Strategy JumpStart which is your association’s cure for “strategile dysfunction.” Please read the descriptions for both prizes to learn more, and please consider placing a bid to support the activities of The Center for Association Leadership.

As you can see, it’s going to be a very busy and exciting meeting, and I’m really looking forward to seeing many good friends and colleagues there. If you’re going to be in Chicago and would like to get together, please post a comment below or send me an e-mail!
