Wikis explained

May 31st, 2007

Thanks to Dave for pointing us to this great video explaining wikis in plain English. Several of us joke that “wiki” is the one social media term that really makes people’s heads explode. We even have a shorthand for this phenomenon:

Wiki…BOOM!

This video should help defuse those situations nicely. Once they understand them, most people see the collaborative value of wikis, even if they remain a bit intimidated by the virtual equivalent of the clean sheet of paper.

While the Wiki…BOOM reference may get lost on some (as in, you had to be there…), it sure brought a smile to my face and I look forward to more fun humor in Chicago!

    Jeff,

It was nice chatting with you the other day!

Love the “wiki” video - SIMPLICITY is such a rarity these days.

I was required to visit this or another website about wikis. I am an educator and new to wiki. This video provided the basics I need to comprehend the process as I examine wikis useful ness for my course.
    Thanks, Evelyn
