Join Association Garage!

March 18th, 2007

In a post a couple of weeks ago, I recommended that associations consider prototyping member networks and communities using Ning, a Web-based, do-it-yourself social networking application. In that post, I also mentioned that I would be launching a social network of my own within a couple of weeks. Well, it’s here and ready for business!

Association Garage is an experimental collaborative network for creators, entrepreneurs and innovators who work in and with membership associations. But this is not another discussion list. Together, we can turn Association Garage into a serious platform for developing powerful ideas and building totally cool products, services and other offers for our colleagues across the association community. Our network can become a force for increasing entrepreneurial activity and accelerating innovation in associations.

Have I captured your imagination? I hope so. If you’d like to become a member of Association Garage, just follow these three simple steps:

1. Visit the Association Garage site and request an invitation.

(NOTE: It is necessary to do it this way because I originally set up Association Garage as a private network, thinking I would be able to make it public when I was ready to launch. I have since discovered that Ning doesn’t allow creators to switch their networks from private to public, at least not at the moment. But it will in the near future, and once that feature is enabled, I will make our group fully public.)

2. I will send you an invitation as soon as possible after I receive your request.

3. Once you receive your invitation, accept it and enter Association Garage to configure your account.

I hope you will join Association Garage and become a contributor to our important work right away. This is a new home for your ideas, expertise and experience as an association entrepreneur and innovator. I look forward to our collaboration!
