A salute to America’s veterans
November 11th, 2006
It is Veterans Day in the United States and, in a time of war, it is particularly important for all Americans to pause and reflect on the real meaning of freedom and sacrifice.
To help you do that, I urge you to read about Marine corporal Jason Dunham, and his extraordinary heroism. Corporal Dunham’s story of bravery, courage and selflessness brings tears to my eyes.
I want to offer my heartfelt thanks to Corporal Dunham and to all of America’s veterans on their day. For defending our nation, they have earned my profound gratitude and everlasting respect.
