I need your help!
October 3rd, 2006
A few weeks ago, I submitted a manifesto proposal to the website, ChangeThis.com. This site solicits proposals from anyone who would like to write a manifesto for change on relevant topics in business, culture, politics, technology and other areas. My manifesto topic is “Embracing The Six Core Values of Innovation,” and today I received an e-mail confirming that it was posted to the site.
This is where I need your help! ChangeThis.com will publish only those manifestos that receive strong popular support through voting that will take place over the next month. (Voting ends on November 3.) So, I am asking everyone who reads this blog to please visit the site and cast a vote for my manifesto. Right now, I am running in third place, but there are quite a few manifesto proposals and it is very early in the process, so I need to act quickly to build my support.
By the way, here is the summary of my manifesto as published on the site:
Innovation is the critical capability for all organizations trying to succeed in today’s marketplace. But the case for innovation cannot be made solely on the basis of the economic value it creates for customers. It is equally important for enterprises and their leaders to embrace the underlying core values of innovation as an integral element of the effort to build toward a more vibrant future. The core values of innovation are: 1) capability, 2) inclusivity, 3) possibility, 4) opportunity, 5) sustainability and 6) responsibility, and they can live within the DNA of any organization of any size or scope. These organizational core values give meaning to the pursuit of innovation beyond simply creating cool, new products and services. They serve as a powerful wellspring of passion and purpose for all contributors to the work of innovation. This manifesto will explore the core values of innovation and explain how leaders can infuse them into their organizations in various ways.
I would very much appreciate receiving your vote even if you don’t agree entirely with my premise. If my manifesto is selected for future publication, we will create it collaboratively on Writely, and you will be able to make a contribution to shaping its content. (If you have any specific feedback, please leave it as a comment below or e-mail me.) The first step in this process, however, is getting the manifesto proposal accepted by ChangeThis.com, so please visit the site to cast your vote. If you are a blogger or podcaster, and you are willing to use your platform to encourage your readers and listeners to vote for my manifesto, I would be very grateful.
Thank you in advance for your support. I will keep you updated on the progress in the voting in the weeks ahead!
