Acronym co-blogger-in-chief argues for simplicity
June 30th, 2006
For the second time in less than one week, Scott Steen, one of Acronym’s chief bloggers, posts on a topic that I think is incredibly important: simplicity. As I have written on this blog, I believe that simplicity is a critical issue for associations in areas ranging from governance to products and services to volunteer engagement. In far too many associations, complexity abounds and simplicity is a strategic opportunity that, if properly addressed, could mean the difference between robust growth and anemic performance in key metrics, not to mention just plain happier members and staff. For me, a focus on simplicity is yet another form of genuine innovation, and one that definitely will make a meaningful impact right away.
I’ve already posed some questions for us to consider on this topic, but I want to add one more to the mix: what three things about your association can you simplify in the next three months? It’s a pretty simple question…now I hope you will come up with some clear answers and share your stories about what you try here. We want to hear about both successes and failures so we can all learn what it takes to make simplicity a strategic priority for associations.
