More from the unsession

June 27th, 2006

The unsession is in full swing, with four distributed conversations underway. Here are some of the key points:

+We can be our own worst enemies by communicating information to members that is not attention worthy. We need to regain credibility so people are looking for what we’re sending.

+Simplifying our messages and making them robust will make them more effective.

+Who owns the responsibility for attention: do members need to pay attention or do we need to get their attention?

+Timing has an impact on attention in terms of when messages are sent.

+We may be shooting ourselves in the foot by focusing so much on e-mail communications.

+We should help our members manage their attention more effectively. Multitasking is probably a fallacy.

There will be more notes from the session on ASAE & The Center’s new Acronym blog.
